What is a membership site in GoHighLevel?

A membership site is a private area of your site that people log in to reach. Behind the login sits a course, a video library, a community, or all three. Non-members see a signup page. Members see the content you granted them.

GoHighLevel builds this without a separate plugin or a second tool. Everything lives under the Memberships menu in the left sidebar. That menu holds Courses (your lessons), Offers (how people get access), and Communities (a Skool style discussion space). You are not stitching apps together. You are turning on parts of the platform you already pay for.

The base GoHighLevel plan starts at $97/mo, and Memberships is included at every tier. So a course and a login area do not cost extra on top of your plan.

How do you create a course and add lessons?

Open Memberships, then Courses, then click Create Course. Give it a title and a short description. A course is made of categories (think modules or chapters), and each category holds individual lessons.

Add a category first, then add lessons inside it. Each lesson can hold a video, text, a downloadable file, or a quiz. Upload your video or paste a hosted video link, write the lesson notes below it, and save. Repeat until your outline is filled in.

Keep the first lesson short and useful. A quick win in lesson one is what makes a new member come back for lesson two.

How do you drip lessons on a schedule?

Dripping means releasing lessons over time instead of unlocking everything at once. It keeps people paced and gives them a reason to stay subscribed. In GoHighLevel you set drip rules per category, not per whole course, so different modules can open at different times.

Open a category inside your course and find the drip setting. You can release it immediately on signup, or a set number of days after the member joined. A common setup is module one on day zero, module two on day seven, module three on day fourteen. That turns a one time purchase into a reason to keep logging in.

Test the drip with a fake member account before you launch. Sign up as a test user and confirm the locked modules really stay locked until their day arrives.

How do you set up an offer, free or paid?

An Offer is the package a person buys or claims to get into your course. One course can have several offers: a free tier, a paid tier, a bundle. Open Memberships, then Offers, then Create Offer, and connect it to the course you built.

For a free course, set the offer price to zero. The signup form then only asks for name and email, and access is granted on signup with no payment step. For a paid course, set a price and connect a payment provider like Stripe inside Payments first, or the checkout has nothing to charge against.

Each offer gives you a signup URL. That URL is the link you put on your site, in your emails, and in your ads. Anyone who completes it becomes a member of exactly the course tied to that offer.

How do you build the login and grant access on purchase?

GoHighLevel gives every membership site a hosted login and signup page out of the box, so members always have a place to sign in. You can also point a custom domain or subdomain at it so the login lives on your own web address.

Access can be granted two ways. The offer itself grants access on signup, which covers most cases. For anything more custom, a workflow does it. Build a workflow that triggers on the purchase or form submission, then add the Grant Course Offer action to unlock the course. This is how you handle a purchase made outside the standard offer checkout, or add a member to a second course when they buy.

A workflow is also where you welcome the new member. After the grant action, send a welcome email with their login link and the first lesson, so they never wonder what to do next.

Can you add a community for free with the University snapshot?

A course teaches. A community keeps people around.
