What Is a Trigger Link in GoHighLevel?

A Trigger Link in GoHighLevel is a special tracked URL that, when clicked by a contact, fires a workflow trigger so you can automate a follow-up action based on that click.
In plain English
A Trigger Link does two things at once. First, it sends the contact to a destination URL, which can be a web page, a calendar booking page, or any other link. Second, it fires a GoHighLevel workflow trigger that you set up in advance.
This lets you build smart automations based on what a contact actually did rather than just what they said they would do. For example, you put a Trigger Link in an email with the text "Yes, I want the discount." When a contact clicks it, GoHighLevel fires a workflow that adds a tag, removes them from the follow-up sequence, and sends them a coupon code.
Trigger Links work in emails, SMS messages, and anywhere else you can paste a URL. They are tracked per contact, so GoHighLevel knows exactly which contacts clicked and can personalize the automation that follows.
How it works
You create a Trigger Link in the sub-account settings or inside the workflow builder. Give it a name, set the destination URL, and GoHighLevel generates a unique tracking URL. Paste that URL into an email or SMS template.
In your workflow, add a "Trigger Link Clicked" trigger and select the link you created. When a contact clicks the link, GoHighLevel matches the click to the contact record and starts the workflow for that contact.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Trigger Link in GoHighLevel?
A Trigger Link is a tracked URL you embed in emails or texts. When a contact clicks it, GoHighLevel records the click and fires a workflow. The contact also lands on the destination URL you set.
How is a Trigger Link different from a regular link?
A regular link just sends the visitor to a page. A Trigger Link also tells GoHighLevel that a specific contact clicked it, so you can automate a response. Regular links do not fire workflows.
Can one Trigger Link fire multiple workflows?
You can have multiple workflows that listen to the same Trigger Link. When the link is clicked, all of them fire for that contact.
