In short
GoHighLevel Communities is an online community platform built into GHL. You create a group, invite members, and they interact through posts, channels, and events, all hosted on your own domain. Agencies can white-label it for clients. Members access it through a mobile app or a web browser. It competes with Skool, Circle, and Mighty Networks.
- Available on Unlimited ($297/mo) and Pro ($497/mo)
- No per-member fee, unlimited members included
- White-labelable for agencies; members access via GHL mobile app or web
What GoHighLevel Communities does
GHL Communities is a social community platform inside GoHighLevel. You set up a community, create channels (similar to Slack channels or Facebook Groups topics), and invite members to join.
Members can post text, images, and videos. They can like and comment on posts. You can create announcements, pin important posts, and set up different channel types for different topics or membership tiers.
Events and live streams are built into Communities. You can schedule a live event, notify members, and host the session inside the community without a separate Zoom link or event platform.
Courses can sit inside a community. Members who buy a course can access it in the same place where they interact with other members and get your live coaching sessions.
Use cases for GHL Communities
Free community for lead nurture: build a free group around a topic relevant to your niche. Members get value, trust builds, and you promote your paid offer inside the group.
Paid membership community: charge a monthly fee for access to a private community with exclusive content, live calls, and direct access to you or your team.
Client onboarding hub: agencies create a community for their clients. Instead of managing every client on email and Slack, everything happens in one organized space with channels for support, wins, and updates.
Course community: pair an online course with a community. Students work through the curriculum and discuss it with each other and with you in the same platform.
GHL Communities vs Skool and Circle
Skool charges $99/mo flat for unlimited members and courses. Circle starts at $49/mo and goes up based on members and features. Both are standalone community platforms.
GHL Communities is included in the Unlimited and Pro plans alongside CRM, automation, funnels, email, SMS, calendars, and all other GHL tools. If you are already on GHL, you do not need a separate community platform.
Skool has stronger gamification features (points, leaderboards) and a larger organic discovery network. GHL Communities wins on integration: member activity can trigger GHL workflows, so a new community member can automatically get a welcome email, a tag, and be added to a nurture sequence.
How to set up a community in GoHighLevel
Go to Sites or the Communities section in your GHL account. Click Create Community. Give it a name, description, and a cover image.
Set the visibility: open (anyone can join), approval-based (you review join requests), or private (invite-only).
Create channels. Think of channels as topic rooms. Common channels: Welcome, Announcements, Questions, Wins, Resources.
Connect a custom domain if you want the community on your own URL instead of the GHL subdomain.
Invite founding members via email or a shareable join link. Seed the community with a few welcome posts and an introductory live call to get conversations started.
Frequently asked questions
Can I charge for a GoHighLevel community?
Yes. You can require a paid membership to access the community. Set up a GHL offer with a recurring payment and gate the community behind it.
How do members access a GHL community?
Members access the community through a web browser at your community URL, or through the GHL mobile app (which carries your white-label branding if you have the mobile app add-on).
Can I white-label GHL Communities for my clients?
Yes. On the Unlimited and Pro plans you can white-label the platform. Clients see your brand name, not GoHighLevel. The mobile app white-labeling requires a separate add-on.
Does GHL Communities support live streaming?
Yes. You can schedule and host live events inside a community. Members get notified and can watch within the community interface.
Can community activity trigger GHL workflows?
Yes. When a new member joins, it can fire a trigger in GHL Workflows, starting an automated welcome sequence with SMS, email, or a task for your team.
Is there a limit on community members in GoHighLevel?
GHL does not publish a hard member cap. You can have unlimited members in your community on the Unlimited and Pro plans.
