How to Add a Domain in GoHighLevel

By Marnix Geerkens. Published 2023-05-05. Updated 2026-06-02.

Adding a domain to GoHighLevel takes three steps: enter the domain in Settings under Domains, create either an A record or a CNAME record in your DNS provider, and then link the domain to the funnel or website you want it to serve. Until the domain is linked to live content, the page will not load for visitors.

Summary. This tutorial covers the basic process of connecting any domain to a GoHighLevel sub-account. You navigate to Settings and Domains, enter the domain name, then add the required DNS record (A record or CNAME) at your registrar. Once GoHighLevel verifies the record, you use the pencil icon to link the domain to a specific funnel or website and set the default landing page.

What you will learn

  • Find the Domains section inside a GoHighLevel sub-account
  • Decide whether to use an A record or a CNAME based on what you are connecting
  • Add the correct DNS record at your registrar and paste in the right value
  • Verify the domain inside GoHighLevel after DNS propagates
  • Link the domain to a funnel or website and set the default page

Steps

  1. Open the Domains section

In your sub-account, click Settings in the left navigation, then select Domains. All domains attached to this account are listed here.

  2. Add the new domain

Click Add New Domain. Type the domain you want to connect (for example yourdomain.com). GoHighLevel will show you the DNS record value you need.

  3. Create the DNS record at your registrar

Log in to your domain registrar. To connect a root domain, add an A record with host @ and the IP address GoHighLevel provides as the value. To connect a subdomain, add a CNAME record with the subdomain prefix as the host and the GoHighLevel URL as the value. Save the record.

  4. Verify the record in GoHighLevel

Return to GoHighLevel and click Add. The platform will look up your DNS record. If it cannot find it yet, wait a minute and try again. DNS propagation usually completes within a few minutes.

  5. Link the domain to a funnel or website

Click the pencil icon next to the newly verified domain. A list of your funnels and websites will appear. Select the one you want this domain to serve, choose the home page or default page, then click Save. The domain is now live.

Tips

  • A funnel or website does not go live on a custom domain until you complete the link step. The DNS record alone is not enough.
  • If you are unsure whether to use an A record or a CNAME, root domains always need A records. Subdomains (anything with a prefix) use CNAMEs.
