What Is a Email Builder in GoHighLevel?
By Marnix Geerkens. Published 2026-05-28. Updated 2026-05-28.
The Email Builder in GoHighLevel is a drag-and-drop visual editor for designing branded HTML email templates that you can reuse in one-time campaigns, automated workflows, and bulk broadcasts.
In plain English
GoHighLevel's Email Builder works like a block editor. You drag sections, text blocks, images, buttons, and dividers onto a canvas. You style them with your brand colors and fonts. When the email looks right, you save it as a template.
Templates you build once are reusable everywhere. You can use the same base email design in a workflow drip sequence, a one-time newsletter blast, and a transactional email. If the design needs to change, you update the template and all future sends use the new version.
The builder supports merge tags for personalization. You insert {{contact.first_name}} and GoHighLevel replaces it with the contact's actual name at send time. Combined with conditional blocks, you can build emails that show or hide sections based on contact data.
How it works
Open the Email Builder from the Marketing section of a sub-account. You can start from a blank canvas or pick from a library of pre-built layouts. Drag blocks from the left sidebar onto the canvas. Click any block to edit its content, colors, and spacing.
Save the completed design as a template. When you create a campaign or workflow email action, you select the template from a dropdown. The template renders in the email client with all the merge tags replaced by real contact data.
