How to Cancel GoHighLevel
By Marnix Geerkens. Published 2026-08-28. Updated 2026-08-28.
In short
To cancel GoHighLevel, open Settings and go to Billing (Company Billing on an agency account). There you can cancel or downgrade your plan. If you cannot find a cancel option, contact GoHighLevel support to close the account. Once the plan ends, your account and its data stop being accessible, so export anything you want to keep first.
- Cancel from Settings, then Billing or Company Billing.
- No cancel button? Contact GoHighLevel support to close it.
- Export your data and snapshots before the plan ends.
How do you cancel a GoHighLevel account?
Cancellation lives in your billing settings. Log in, open Settings, and look for Billing. On an agency account this is usually called Company Billing, which controls the plan you pay HighLevel for. On a single sub-account without agency access, the billing page may be limited, and the person who owns the agency handles the plan.
In Billing, look for an option to cancel or to change your plan. GoHighLevel sometimes puts cancellation behind a "manage subscription" or "change plan" link rather than a big red button. If you only want to stop paying for a higher tier, a downgrade is often right there next to cancel.
If you cannot find a cancel option anywhere in Billing, that is normal for some account types. Contact GoHighLevel support through the in-app chat or their help email and ask them to cancel the account. Ask them to confirm in writing the date your billing stops.
Menus and labels shift over time, so treat the exact path as a guide, not a script. The pattern stays the same: Settings, then Billing or Company Billing, then cancel or downgrade, then support if you are stuck.
Before you cancel, is there a cheaper path?
Most people cancel for one of two reasons: the bill feels too high, or the tool feels like too much. Both have a fix that is not "leave and start over somewhere else." It is worth five minutes before you close the account.
If it is the cost, look at what you actually use. The plan tier is the big lever. If you are on a higher tier for one feature you rarely touch, downgrading to a lower tier can cut the monthly bill a lot. Usage costs like phone, text, and email rebilling are separate from the plan, and you can trim those by cleaning up automations that send more than they need to. Our breakdown of what GoHighLevel really costs walks through where the money goes.
If it is overwhelm, the software is probably fine and the setup is the problem. A half-built account with broken automations feels like a mess no matter how good the tool is. A done-for-you setup or a working template can turn the same account from confusing to useful without changing your bill.
And if you just want a second pair of eyes before you decide, our free community is full of people who use GoHighLevel every day. Post what is frustrating you. Nine times out of ten someone has already solved it.
What happens to your data when you cancel?
When your plan ends, your login stops working and the account and its data are no longer accessible to you. Treat cancellation as the point where you lose the ability to open the account, so anything you want to keep has to come out first.
Export your contacts and any records you care about before the cancel date. GoHighLevel lets you export contacts to a CSV file, and you can save copies of important content like email templates, funnel copy, and calendar settings by hand if you do not have another way to pull them.
Snapshots are worth special attention. A snapshot is a saved blueprint of an account setup. If you have snapshots you built and want to reuse them later, make sure they live somewhere you will still have access to, not only inside an account that is about to close.
GoHighLevel does not publish a fixed public rule for how long data sits before it is gone for good, and policies can change, so do not count on a grace period. The safe move is simple: export everything you might want, confirm you have it, then cancel.
What happens to sub-accounts on an agency plan?
On an agency plan, canceling the agency plan affects every sub-account under it, not just the main one. Your client accounts, their contacts, and their automations all sit inside that agency, so closing the agency closes them too.
If you run client accounts, tell your clients before you cancel and give them a way to keep what is theirs. That usually means exporting each sub-account's contacts and content, or moving the sub-account to another agency that will keep paying for it.
If you only want to stop one client and keep the rest, you do not cancel the whole agency plan. You remove or pause that single sub-account inside your agency settings and leave your plan running for the others.
A quick cancellation checklist
Run this order and you will not lose anything you needed. First, decide if a downgrade solves the real problem instead of a full cancel. Second, export your contacts to CSV. Third, save your snapshots and any content you built. Fourth, on an agency plan, sort out every sub-account and warn any clients. Fifth, open Settings, then Billing or Company Billing, and cancel or downgrade. Sixth, if there is no self-serve option, message support and get the stop date in writing.

Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel my GoHighLevel account?
Open Settings, go to Billing (Company Billing on an agency account), and choose cancel or change plan. If there is no cancel option for your account type, contact GoHighLevel support through in-app chat or email and ask them to close the account and confirm your billing stop date.
Will I lose my data if I cancel?
Yes, plan on losing access when the plan ends. Export your contacts to CSV and save any content and snapshots you want to keep before the cancel date. GoHighLevel does not promise a fixed grace period, so do not rely on getting the data back later.
Can I get a refund when I cancel?
Refund outcomes depend on GoHighLevel's current policy and your billing cycle, so ask support directly rather than assuming. In many subscriptions, canceling stops future charges but does not refund the current period. Get any refund promise in writing from support.
Can I pause GoHighLevel instead of canceling?
A clean pause is not always available, and it depends on your account and current policy. A common middle path is to downgrade to a lower tier so you keep your account and data at a smaller monthly cost instead of closing it. Ask support what pause options exist for your plan.
How long does it take to cancel?
A self-serve cancel or downgrade in Billing usually takes effect right away or at the end of your current billing cycle. If you have to go through support, it can take a little longer, so cancel a few days before your renewal date and confirm the stop date with them.
Can I come back after I cancel?
Yes, you can sign up again later, but a closed account may not still hold your old data, so a fresh start can mean rebuilding. If you saved your snapshots and exports, you can load them into a new account and get most of your setup back quickly.
What happens to my sub-accounts if I cancel the agency plan?
Canceling the agency plan closes the sub-accounts under it too, including client accounts. Export each sub-account's data first, warn any clients, or move a sub-account to another agency. To stop just one client, remove that sub-account instead of canceling the whole plan.
Should I downgrade instead of canceling to save money?
Often yes. The plan tier is the biggest part of the bill, so dropping to a lower tier can cut costs while keeping your account and data. Usage costs like text and email are separate, and trimming heavy automations lowers those too.
