Before you start
- A GoHighLevel account with Communities enabled (start the 30-day free trial)
- Kajabi admin access
- Student list exported as a CSV from Kajabi
- All course video files downloaded or accessible via the original hosting (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)
- PDF materials, worksheets, and course assets downloaded from Kajabi
Time: 16 to 32 hours. Difficulty: Intermediate. Plan: GoHighLevel Unlimited ($297/mo) or Pro ($497/mo) for Communities.
Steps
1. Export your student list from Kajabi
In Kajabi, go to People and export all members. Include name, email, which products they are enrolled in, and membership status (active, cancelled). Download the CSV. This is your student database that you will import into GoHighLevel.
2. Download all course content assets
For each Kajabi course, download or save all supporting materials: PDFs, worksheets, slides, and any text content. If your videos are hosted directly in Kajabi, download them as well (Kajabi allows video downloads from the content library). If they are on YouTube or Vimeo, note the links.
3. Document your course structure
For each Kajabi product, write down the module names and lesson names in order. Note which lessons have videos, PDFs, text, or quizzes. This is your blueprint for rebuilding in GoHighLevel Courses.
4. Export your email sequences from Kajabi
In Kajabi, go to Marketing and then Email Sequences. Open each sequence and copy the subject lines and body copy into a document. Note the triggers and delays. You will rebuild these as GoHighLevel workflows.
5. Set up your GoHighLevel course structure
In GoHighLevel, go to Sites and then Courses. Create a new course for each Kajabi product. Add the same modules and lessons in the same order. Upload videos using GoHighLevel video hosting or embed them from YouTube or Vimeo. Add PDFs and supporting files as lesson attachments.
6. Set up the Community (optional)
If you had a Kajabi community, GoHighLevel Communities is the replacement. In GoHighLevel, go to Communities and create a new group. Set up the same channels or discussion topics you had in Kajabi. Students will access it from the GoHighLevel client portal.
7. Set up the client portal and membership access
GoHighLevel has a client portal where students log in to access their courses and community. In Settings, enable the client portal and set your custom domain. Students will receive login credentials by email after import.
8. Import students into GoHighLevel
Go to Contacts in GoHighLevel and click Import. Upload the student CSV from Kajabi. Map the fields (email, name, enrolled product as a tag). After import, use the GoHighLevel Courses membership tool to grant access to the correct courses based on their enrollment tag.
9. Rebuild your email onboarding sequences as workflows
In GoHighLevel, go to Automation and create a workflow for each Kajabi email sequence. Use triggers such as "Course enrollment" or "Contact tag added" to match the Kajabi triggers. Add email actions with the copy you documented and the same delays.
10. Move your sales funnels and checkout pages
Rebuild your Kajabi landing pages and offer checkout pages in GoHighLevel under Sites and Funnels. Connect Stripe for payments. If you have existing Kajabi subscriptions, you will need to communicate the switch to your students and handle any payment method updates through Stripe.
11. Point your domain to GoHighLevel
In GoHighLevel, go to Settings and then Domains. Add your course domain and update the DNS records. Your students will then reach the new GoHighLevel client portal when they type your domain.
12. Notify your students and test before going live
Send your student list an email (from GoHighLevel) explaining that the platform is moving. Give them the new login URL and credentials. Ask a few students to test access to their courses before you cancel Kajabi.
How to check the migration worked
- Log in to the GoHighLevel client portal as a test student and confirm course access is correct.
- Verify all module and lesson content is visible and videos play correctly.
- Submit a test enrollment through the new checkout page and confirm Stripe captures the payment.
- Check that the onboarding email sequence triggers and the first email arrives.
- Confirm community access works in the GoHighLevel client portal.
Troubleshooting
Students cannot log in to the new client portal
Check that the student email address in GoHighLevel matches the email they used in Kajabi. In GoHighLevel, go to the contact record and click Send Magic Link to give them a fresh login link. Also verify the client portal domain is pointing to GoHighLevel correctly.
Videos are not playing in GoHighLevel courses
If you uploaded videos directly to GoHighLevel, check the file format (MP4 is recommended) and file size. If you are embedding from YouTube or Vimeo, check that the video is set to public or unlisted (not private). Paste the embed URL directly into the lesson video field.
Students are not getting access to their enrolled courses
In GoHighLevel Courses, check the membership settings for each course. Membership can be granted manually, by tag, or by product purchase. If you imported students with tags, make sure the course access rule matches the correct tag.
My Kajabi subscription payments are still active
Kajabi subscriptions run through Kajabi Payments or Stripe. If Stripe is involved, the subscriptions continue billing until cancelled. Communicate the platform switch to students clearly and either migrate their subscriptions to a new Stripe product or issue refunds for unused periods.
